St. Catharines, ONTJanuary 19, 2010 – By Jim Irvine, Merrittville Speedway Public Relations

With the 39th Annual DIRTcar Nationals By UNOH about to kick off the 2010 DIRTcar Racing Season at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville Florida – Bicknell Racing Products jump started the Northeast racing season by hosting it’s annual Open House Saturday, January 16.

“Simply put … it was just an amazing day,” revealed Bicknell Racing Products’ Bob Slack, “it was nice to see everyone out – both our Canadian and American customers … dirt and asphalt alike … checking out our specials … taking in the free seminars or just doing some bench racing … in anticipation of opening day.”

The day at BRP’s St. Catharines manufacturing and retail headquarters ended with a free draw for all eligible DIRTcar Modified and Sportsman customers for a new BRP Twenty-10 Frame. Niagara Falls DIRTcar Sportsman Veteran Rob Knapp was the winner.

“Quite honestly … it couldn’t have come at a better time,” beamed Knapp,” thanks to Randy, Pete, Bob and everyone at BRP.”

One of the more than 80 drivers in the draw – Knapp was involved in one of the first lap incidents during the Sportsman portion of Super DIRT Week at Syracuse last October and after transporting home what was left of his self-owned #2K machine, realized that most of the race car was unrepairable.

“BRP has such a good reputation for customer service,” remarked first time seminar presenter Mike Loescher from Edgewater Florida’s True Track Laser and Finish Line Racing School, “their support doesn’t stop once the sale is made … they are always helping the racer.”

Loescher’s seminar focused on the use of his patented Laser Tool in setting up a race car for any surface – “we speak on fact … not theory – it’s all about geometry.”

Loescher’s Finish Line Racing School is open to racers of all levels with graduates including DIRTcar Team BRP star Matt Sheppard, reigning World of Outlaws Late Model and Sprint Car Champions Josh Richards and Donny Schatz, several NASCAR Canadian Tire Series drivers, in addition to Sprint Cup stars Jamie McMurray and Reed Sorenson. Finish Line Racing’s Alumni also include the youngest driver ever to win the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl, 2nd-generation driver Kevin Swindell, who accomplished that feat just hours after the show concluded.

Also making his first presentation was Hoosier Racing Tire’s Shannon Rush.
“It’s always good to network with our customers that we don’t see all the time,” relayed the Lakeville, Indiana tire specialist, “ The day went beyond my expectations … the drivers in this area are well informed.”

Performance Friction Brakes’ Derek Spencer also made his first visit to participate in the seminars and worked back and forth with BRP’s Randy Williamson. “I was very impressed with the questions asked,” informed the Clover, South Carolina Technical specialist, “the turnout was awesome.”

At one point in the day long sessions, the presenters enjoyed an overflow crowd of more than 250 drivers and crew members. Making his second annual visit was Motorsport Safety Systems’ Dennis Botindari of Weedsport, New York, who added, “I couldn’t be more ecstatic that people are listening more and more to our message.”

“We are proud to be on the leading edge,” prided BRP’s Randy Williamson, “right from our first Open House way back in 1986 … we are happy to host our customers and our supplier partners.”

The much anticipated BRP-designed Balance Bar was one of the most recently designed parts to become available. The BRC310-9070 promotes a more positive feel and the detent provides a solid adjustment – a quality found lacking in previous designs.

Also on display and available soon is the Quadlock Rearend Tube along with the corresponding birdcages, maser brake mounts and bridge mount clamps for mounting. Another BRP upgrade – it promotes proper fit to keep the components in place while increasing strength and reducing excessive flex.

A new 1 ½” Fuel Log was also among one of the newest designed and manufactured parts displayed in Bicknell Racing Products’ St. Catharines Ontario Retail Showroom.

Under Bob Slack, the BRP Manufacturing department is continually reinventing and redeveloping bolt on BRP components.

The Canadian location provided tours of the facilities including the body fabrication, welding and machine shop departments.

“We’re happy to do anything we can do to help our teams,” exclaimed BRP’s Pete Bicknell, adding, “ … whether it’s now leading up to racing season … week in and week out during the summer … or at a Series event!”

“We can’t thank everyone enough for their support – especially our presenters … Dennis … Shanon … Derek … Scott … Kevin … Mike and Jesse and Marcello Pontello and everyone that attended,” thanked Bob Slack, “and we couldn’t have made it the exceptional day it was without our staff from both locations.”

Bicknell, Williamson, Slack and all the staff at BRP would also like to extend a special thank you to Turn 4 Collision’s Norm Ellsworth and his staff for all their efforts and help in arranging the class room for the Seminars.
